Full Time Unpaid Internship
1010 WINS seeks highly motivated individuals who have an interest in broadcast journalism. You will spend your time in the number one news station in the nation and on the streets of the most competitive market in the industry. You will be exposed to all aspects of the station operation. This includes learning the basic elements of the news product from the newsroom computer systems to field production. Interns will also learn story research, basic news writing and production. You will be exposed to the decision-making process, will be challenged on questions of ethics, story content, story placement, and story selection. You will learn everything there is to know about the online extension of our business, and you will shadow reporters out in the field... learning interviewing skills, sound byte selection, lead writing, etc. No coffee runs in this internship!
You will also be exposed to Traffic and Sales departments, learning about the department that is responsible for commercial advertising and the steps required to add a commercial to the radio station's finished product.
This is a great opportunity to learn how a radio station operates!
Qualifications:
Eligibility Requirements:
• You must currently attend an accredited college, entering your junior or senior year or a grad student.
• Eligible Majors: Journalism, Broadcasting and Communications
• You must submit a one-page essay on why you want to work in Broadcast Journalism.
• You must submit two letters of reference.
