Full Time Unpaid Internship
The Backend Systems Software Engineer Intern will be an integral part of the Data and Feeds development team during the summer of 2016. The engineer intern will help build tools, services, and data processes to support our CBSSports.com and SportsLine.com sites. This intern will become part of CBS Interactive's dynamic technical community, which will provide opportunities to work with open source technologies, develop innovative projects, and craft solutions using new technologies.
Role Responsibilities:
Specific project assignments may include developing software to monitor and support our live scoring product, performance and unit testing our primary RESTful API frameworks, coding GUI tools to interface with our data, and opportunities to contribute to new data systems currently under development.
Responsibilities will extend to any of the applications associated with CBS Interactive's initiatives with a focus on back-end services development. An interest in web technologies from a technical and product perspective is very important.
Qualifications:
Experience developing software with Java or PHP.
Basic principles knowledge for relational and/or NoSQL databases
Knowledge of web development techniques using HTML, CSS, and Javascript
Technical analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills
Strong desire to learn new technologies and techniques
Solid organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
Ability to establish professional relationships with team members
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related software engineering field
3.0 GPA or above
Additional Requirements:
- You must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- You must have at least one academic semester left after Summer 2016
- Must be at least 18 years old
