Full Time Paid Internship
The Social Media Intern's main responsibility is to produce and deploy content across several social media accounts in alignment with CNET's brand and standards.
Daily roles, responsibilities, and expectations include, but are not limited to:
• Write excellent posts in a variety of styles and tones, from breaking news to general updates, in accordance with best practices on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.
• Contribute to CNET's editorial output, and generate new ideas to better appeal to social audiences. This potentially includes both written and video content.
• Contribute to CNET's social strategy by identifying opportunities within channels, changes that should be made to current tactics, and doubling down on successful experimentation.
• Monitor, listen to, and engage with CNET's social audience across several platforms while keeping in line with the organization's community management standards.
• Time commitment: full-time, 40 hours per week during our regular office hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm) but times may vary per team
• This is a paid internship and can also be for university credit if it meets your university's guidelines
Creativity, strong writing and visual skills, deep familiarity with tech culture, and a willingness to collaborate are central to the role. Posting and engaging on Twitter are at the heart of the position, but the candidate is expected to offer their insight and perspective on platforms ranging from Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, and beyond.
The intern must be familiar with the fundamentals of social media metrics. That familiarity should extend beyond a single channel, and should include awareness of how social activity impacts on-site activity.
The intern must be willing to adapt to new, best practices and share that knowledge with social and editorial teams. Awareness of emerging platforms that present an opportunity for CNET is key.
• Intern must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Must be at least 18 years old
