CBS Corporation is launching its Summer 2017 Veteran Internship Program for qualified college Veteran students who are enrolled full-time in an accredited university.
Through this initiative, we are committed to supporting the career development of our veterans by offering hands-on experience, career-building workshops, professional development courses and the opportunity to network with the best in our business. Although the following internships (listed below) are based in various departments, the program will be coordinated so participants take part in all of the aforementioned learning opportunities.
CBS Corporation is encouraging Veterans who are current full time students to apply. Each description provides more detail about the specific internship.
Showtime- Looking for students interested in the entertainment/broadcast industry for multiple areas of the business including Media & Promotions, Advertising, Marketing and Programming to name a few.
CBS Radio – CBS Radio is looking for Veteran intern candidates that have a ''can do'' attitude and a passion for music. They will be part of the street team promoting the station at various events throughout the summer. Responsibilities include execution of events and promotions including, but not limited to: event set-up & break down, coordinating on-site entertainment, personal interaction with listeners as well as public speaking to large crowds. Assist with station marketing plans, strategies and promotional ideas. Clerical work consisting of distributing prizes, making phone calls and other day-to-day operations. Light to heavy lifting at times.
CBS Corporate Labor Relations – The intern will interface with all of the executives in the LR department on multiple projects and work with other departments throughout the CBS family, such as Radio, TV Stations, Legal, Business Affairs, Production, etc. Additional responsibilities include:
- Research union and guild grievances
- Participate in drafting proposals for negotiations
- Research the effects on the company of union and guild proposals
- Prepare Excel spreadsheets to analyze the cost of proposals
- Any additional projects and duties as assigned
- And support administrative staff as needed
CBS Corporate Strategic Sourcing – Responsibilities include assisting the department in key enterprise-wide projects which provide cost savings and process improvement, outstanding internal customer service, and supporting the Department's annual goals. Additional responsibilities include:
• Assist in development
of RFx materials (Request for Proposals or Request for Information)
• Support sourcing
efforts through RFx distribution and review/analysis
• Support purchasing
department process improvement initiatives
• Assist with planning
and execution of annual sustainability networking event in June
• Interact with internal
and external business partners to analyze and validate data
• Perform in depth
research and category analysis and
present opportunity landscape
• Contribute to
enterprise commitment to diversity and sustainability through consideration of
these key areas during supplier selection and negotiation, as well as in
ongoing supplier relationships.
• Present end of
internship project to Strategic Sourcing Department and business partners
Qualifications:
Required:
- Must be a Veteran or honorably discharged from the US Armed Forces.
- Enrolled in a accredited college or university through December 2017.
- Be able to work 20 to 30 hours per week.
