BUZZMEDIA currently owns and operates over 40 websites ranging from music to fashion to celebrity news. The Public Relations internship program is designed to help qualified candidates learn about the public relations industry with regards to entertainment, digital media as a medium for media consumption and syndication as well as give qualified candidates the ability to learn with hands-on experience what it's like to work for the leading entertainment and pop-culture destination on the web. BUZZMEDIA is looking for 2-4 interns for this program with unparalleled access and experience. The public relations intern will be mentored by the Marketing Department and other public relations specialist (agency) and public relations counselor.
Based in Hollywood, the PR/media relations department is responsible for the powerful and accurate communication of the BUZZMEDIA brand message, along with the brand messaging of owned and partner brands, to the world, including mass media, the blogosphere, the social sphere, and WOM (word of mouth). Candidates must be deeply interested with everything pop-culture, music, film, tv, internet and fashion related. This is a non-paid internship opportunity with unparallel access and ideal for students who need class credit. This is also a great opportunity for a Resume builder, contact builder and much more! Your responsibilities will touch on all of the following core business units: Branded Entertainment, Sales and Marketing, Social Media, Digital Technology, Public Relations and general administrative / clerical research.
Requirements:
1. Must be actively enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a university public relations, marketing, advertising or other related program. Current students will preferably have at least sophomore standing.
2. The ability to undertake basic public relations writing assignments, research (online / traditional), and possess an understanding of basic media relations skills, an ability to interact professionally with clients, and good judgment.
3. A working knowledge of computers, as well as word processing and database (Excel management software is necessary).
4. Interns will work between 15-30 hours a week. Prior relevant experience is preferred.
Responsibilities:
1. Draft basic public relations materials including news releases (internal only), media alerts (internal only), fact sheets, messaging documents, client meeting summaries, status reports and other materials as directed.
2. Carry out special and media event planning activities and arrangements as outlined by Marketing and Events department
3. Attend and participate in media training sessions, presentations, traffic meetings and brainstorming sessions as directed.
4. Compile data output in the form of letters, fax lists, data lists and other reports as requested by Marketing team.
5. Assist with the distribution of client information/materials or the firm's marketing materials. Also ensure completeness and accuracy of information and assist with the management of destination lists, and coordination of fax, mailing or broadcast fax activities. In addition, conduct appropriate follow up when necessary.
6. Assist with the management of outside vendors to successfully complete outside work, including, but not limited to printing of materials, renting of audio/visual equipment, photography, graphic arts services or supplying needed products.
7. Assist with administrative duties including fax processing, sorting, collating, mailings and other administrative functions as assigned.
8. Assist with the management of newspaper and periodical inventories for easy access.
