FOH Daytime Seasonal Porter/Ambassador (Usher)
Description:
BROADWAY IN BOSTON, THE CHARLES PLAYHOUSE
Non-Exempt
Location: Boston, MA
Current Production: Blue Man Group (In residence since October, 1995)
Reports to: Theatre Manager, Associate Theatre Manager, and Assistant House Manager
The Charles Playhouse is seeking dynamic individuals with superb customer service skills to join our Front of House team for our Group Season (approx. April to June). This is one of Blue Man Group's busiest times and we are currently looking for additional staff to support our daytime and weekend performances. The number of performances and shift schedule varies week to week and an ideal candidate will find this flexibility appealing.
Candidates should be self-motivated and able to think fast on their feet. Blue Man Group is not your traditional theater show and this is not a traditional usher position. We have a jubilant audience and as the Porter, you will often be the first staff member to interact with them. You will work hard but and hopefully love coming to work.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Preparing the theatre, its lobby, and the lounge for the public.
-Engaging with our audience in a welcoming way. Scanning Tickets. Seating patrons. Directing the flow of the crowd. Answering and addressing audience inquiries.
-Watching over patron and performer safety and comfort during performances.
-Ensuring props that make their way into the audience are retrieved.
-Helping to create an excellent audience experience by providing top notch guest services, both before and after each show.
-Clearing the theater after each performance and assisting with post show Meet and Greet.
-Maintaining the cleanliness of the lower lobby, lounge and bathrooms before and during showtimes.
-Proudly representing the Blue Man Group and The Charles Playhouse.
Qualifications
- Adaptable within a fast paced theatrical environment.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service.
- An understanding of how to provide an enjoyable and safe environment.
- Responsible, friendly and team oriented.
- Able to stay calm in the event of an emergency to assist with evacuation of building.
- Standing for periods of time is required.
- Must be comfortable with showtime cleaning duties.
- Detail oriented.
