Second Assistant Editor (Blue Sky Studios)
Responsible for assisting the First Assistant Editor in all aspects of editing and managing the work flow throughout the duration of feature and short film
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
• Ensure that the Editors are supplied with pertinent and current materials to edit
• Initiate and implement recommended practices for Editorial procedures in consultation with the Blue Sky Editorial Department
• Log and digitize material in to the AVID promptly and accurately.
• Make videotaping and audio outputs from AVID
• Manage AVID media and media backup
• Record, log and digitize scratch dialogue
• Facilitate the duties and tasks regarding the process of recording scratch and production dialogue
• Output production cut lists
• Import and export production media files
• Troubleshoot technical issues with Video Systems Engineer
• Manage editorial work flow with assistance from the Editorial Coordinator and Assistant Production Manager
• Receive training to run 35mm projector and prep work prints
Qualifications:
• AVID and assistant editorial experience in a multi-user environment required
• 3-5 years as an AVID assistant and assistant editor preferred
• Experience as assistant on a 35mm feature animation film preferred
• Experience in prepping and conforming film prints is preferred
• Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:
• This role is a guaranteed 50-hour work week position.
• Some additional overtime, often unpredictable, is required for this position.
• Office working environment
• Walking/bending/sitting.
• Approximately 80% of the time will be spent working on a computer.
