Departmental Overview:
The Digital Department functions primarily to deliver BF's content to its clients through the website, FTP, and hard drive deliveries; to maintain, catalogue, and archive BF's digital assets, and create content deliverable across a variety of mediums.
Role Specification
Role Objective:
Responsible for creating, formatting and managing digital assets from source material provided by our composers and reliably and correctly deliver to our clients; to effectively catalogue BF's library and deliverables, and adhere to the various naming and architectural conventions. To produce and format consistent, reliable content and create a solid archiving process for BF's assets.
Summary of Role Responsibilities:
This includes (but is not limited to) the following areas of responsibility:
Asset Management
Maintaining & distributing deliverables to clients
QC audio quality, filenames, metadata for tracks
Altering file formats and/or labeling to meet specific client requirements
Duplicating and verifying drives as required
Prepare and send deliverables to clients including necessary tags
Uploading content, checking audition and download links
Importing master files and metadata into Soundminer
Other duties as needed
File Storage
Maintaining storage, metadata and backups of client and composer deliverables
Overseeing backup of live projects to cloud storage
Client Updates & Technical Contact
Prepare deliverables to clients and distribution parties; maintaining weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates
Collecting data on client workflows and communicating to department heads
Maintaining schedule of deliveries and communicating with clients and production department when technical issues and delays arise
Staying up to date on current digital audio management software
Address workflow challenges with 3rd parties
Helpdesk: point person for web and delivery issues, liaising with staff and clients to resolve problems
Use of alternative FTP methods when needed
User account management support
Liaise with team to escalating issues
Qualifications/ Experience
Essential
Educated to degree standard or to demonstrate a depth of knowledge in the field
Demonstrate experience in maintaining digital assets
Experience in Cataloguing / Archiving digital content
Experience in formatting digital files (WAV, AIF, MP3, JPG, TIFF, MPG, MOV)
Desirable
Experience with keywording / categorizing digital content
Experience managing a digital music or image library
Skills/ Abilities
Essential
Use of outboard equipment and mastering software
Digital file formatting software (Soundminer, iTunes, etc.)
Sound and video editing experience
Good interpersonal skills, plenty of patience.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Organized and thorough, with the ability to co-ordinate, prioritize and multitask
Able to work effectively autonomously as well as part of a team
Ability to understand process and follow procedure
Ability to work effectively at a fast pace
Excellent attention to detail
