FREELANCE Live Events Researcher (Big Ten Network - Chicago, IL)
Responsibilities
• Work with producers and on-air talent to solicit story ideas and gather story and event related research.
• Compile and distribute event specific information about the Big Ten Conference, its teams and athletes.
• Identify game specific statistical notes that can be further developed into on-air graphics.
• Occasionally provide accurate game specific statistical information during live broadcasts and confirm the accuracy and integrity of on-air content. Travel to remote location may be required.
Qualifications:
• Prefer Chicago area based applicants for freelance part time position
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field
• Live Events Researcher is expected to be keenly knowledgeable in the stories, athletes, rules and history of the Big Ten Conference and its teams.
• Ideal candidate should be an independent, creative thinker and a strong efficient writer.
• Position may require work at nights and weekends.
• Previous experience in television production and providing sports information for on-air talent a plus.
