Primary Role:
Plans, organizes, directs, and controls project activities required for effective management of media, broadcast and infrastructure installation projects. Supervises installation labor and sub-contractors. Estimates and prices job charges. Works with financial, contract management and other management reports and tools to define project problems to assure project profitability. Is responsible for training and developing employees. Is responsible for the quality of installation.
Responsibilities:
1. Plans and schedules engineering, installation, and subcontracting activities on large and/or complex systems, or service installed jobs
a. Maintains current job plans and specifications
b. Works with engineering department on design and drafting phases of jobs
c. Coordinates the procurement of materials, supplies and services and controls timely delivery to job site
d. Prepares the project installation plan, manages the plan and prepares and implements job procedures
e. Determines, from review of various information, necessary changes in design, contract price, installation plan or other activity and implements same
f. Maintains construction schedule and coordinates task scheduling with other trades.
g. Selects and monitors the performance of subcontractors
h. Keeps self, superiors and subordinates informed of progress
i. Maintains all records of job status, job changes, material flow and other control records and supervises the preparation and processing of reports for internal and external use
j. May estimate or assist in estimating projects which the company is bidding
2. Implements quality assurance program to continuously improve customer satisfaction
a. Present a professional image of Company when speaking to customers (all levels)
b. Develops a relationship with the decision maker of our customer
c. Routinely walks job site to ensure quality installation of Company products
d. Responsible for customer satisfaction on projects
3. Monitors job status and controls job costs
a. Provides information to determine labor and material requirements on a monthly basis
b. Assists management in monthly forecasting
c. Ensures proper job management and cost control by reviewing financial statements
d. Supervises the preparation of base data required for monthly job billing
e. Monitors financial and other reports and works with other management tools to define project problems
f. Ensures timecards are accurately filled out, complete with job numbers, phase codes, times adds up, hours are correct, time card is signed and turned in every Monday on to the Operations AA. Responsible to make sure cards from the field have arrived at Company. Also responsible for apprentice's and installers timecard accuracy.
g. Devises a plan of action to remedy the problem and implements plan; all to assure project profitability
4. Training and development:
a. Studies literature and attends seminars to stay current with regards to products, processes and materials
b. Works with installers on security concepts, ISN and installation procedures and product training for their advancement
5. Job Closure
a. Responsible for Completing As-Builds
b. Responsible for completing all paperwork, POs are all completed, Notice of Completions (NOC) is sent, and jobs are turned over to Service
c. Job is 100% billed and revenue is taken
d. Job close out report is completed
Qualifications:
• 7-10 years' experience coordinating various project of size and scope in a construction or integration related business.
• 2-5 years of engineering and on site experience in the audiovisual industry preferred.
• Knowledge of current products and trends in the audio, video and IT industry.
• Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to comprehend and relay technical specifications.
• Ability to organize and manage sub-contractors.
• Understands and can complete job financial reports.
• The ability to control costs in the management of large projects.
• Good organizational skills, flexibility, and the capacity to manage multiple projects and clients.
• Ability to recognize, adhere to deadlines and milestones, ability to anticipate possible issues and problems in and propose viable solutions to such.
• Ability to communicate persuasively and tactfully with all levels of management, co-workers, and customers.
• Must be a team player and have the ability to work with colleagues at all levels.
• Ability to present and communicate information to various levels within the organization. Professional presentation skills preferred.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills; ability to present and communicate complex information to various levels within the organization
• Ability to speak intelligently on technology, conceive solutions and provide limited pre-design specifications for customers.
• Highly skilled in Microsoft productivity tools such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Project (as indicated by the checkmark for MS Office, above).
• Experience with Microsoft Project and AutoCAD or Visio preferred.
• Other duties as needed.
Travel:
50%-60% as required and includes both short term and extended travel.
Must be willing to travel and regularly visit customers.
Additional Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and work well with people.
2. Significant hands-on site-based cable plant and/or broadcast experience, Specialty electronic systems and Audio / Video experience helpful.
3. Manufacturer training preferred.
4. Must have experience working in a small resourceful team that depends upon internal and external resources to fulfill project objectives
5. Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized.
6. Superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers.
7. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups.
8. Ability to demonstrate planning, organizing and implementing skills which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due date.
9. Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations.
10. Must be able to read and effectively interpret general business documentation.
11. Valid and current driver's license.
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:
1. Employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
2. Some light lifting of objects is required.
3. Reaching, grasping and carrying activities also required.
4. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
5. Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
