Barbizon Lighting, located in Atlanta, GA has an immediate opening for a full time Service Technician to work in our technical services group. This position will provide technical service and support to customers, the Barbizon Atlanta Systems Division, and vendors. Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills are essential.
Located throughout the United States and abroad, Barbizon is the leading supplier of entertainment lighting, rigging, drapery and expendables for 70 years serving the theater, television, film, schools, universities, and themed environment industries. Barbizon is an international corporation with small company atmosphere. A competitive salary and excellent benefits package is available.
Responsibilities
• Provide support and troubleshooting to customers, both on-site and remotely via phone or electronic messaging.
• Evaluate Equipment to determine if it should be repaired in-house or shipped to factory
• Repair conventional and automated fixtures, dimming equipment, control consoles and accessories
• Provide in-shop repair service & on-site service to customers
• Maintain equipment and parts inventory
• Handle billing for repairs and technical services
• Execute service contracts
• Provide Systems Division and factory commissioning of lighting systems, including low voltage terminations
• Installation of lighting equipment on site to include: assembly of distribution and control racks, fixtures and accessories
• Install and configure system software
• Train new customers on operations and maintenance of installed lighting system
• Keep updated and informed of new products and system operational software
• Attend factory trainings with appropriate frequency to maintain ''state of the art'' technical support certifications
• Setup, connect and operate equipment for Demonstrations in house and in the field
Skills & Attributes
• Basic Electrical Knowledge
• Knowledge of entertainment dimming & control systems
• Understanding of DMX and network control standards
• High level of organizational ability
• Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently
• High proficiency troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills. Familiar with Business and Inventory Software
• Willingness and availability for overnight travel
• Strong technical understanding of current lighting technology
• Proficient with soldering
• Ability to work well with contractors and subcontractors
Experience & Educational Requirements
• Background and practical experience in technical aspects of entertainment and architectural lighting systems
• Technical Theatre or Television degree or comparable work experience or equivalent Technical School or Military training
• Valid driver's license
