Bang Zoom is a Burbank, CA based digital video encoding and services Digital Distribution and Post Production company whose clients include video content owners, distributors and studios. The Systems/Video Technology Expert is our go-to technology guru capable of filling almost any role in this small company while continuing to maintain our servers and workstations, performing media management, and implementing technology upgrades. On a day-by-day basis our System Engineer troubleshoots and solves any IT and video issues, supports all employees and advises on ingest, logging, workflows, and deliverables.
Qualifications:
The right candidate is dependable, responsible, and an excellent communicator who is able to ''talk the language'' of IT engineers and end-users alike, interfacing with technical vendors as well as creative artists, and dealing professionally with clients. Our industry is more computerized than ever, and being an excellent and fast learner who can stay up to date with current trends and developments is key to this position.
Required skills:
• At least 2 years of professional post-production engineering experience
• Excellent understanding of digital video standards and formats, including frame rates, PARs, pulldown patterns, codecs, wrappers, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to support Adobe Creative Suite / Creative Cloud, Avid Media Composer, Pro Tools, and FileMaker Pro
• Mac and PC hardware troubleshooting and repair
• Deep technical knowledge of Mac OS X and OS X Server
• Network engineering, LAN design and topology, configuration of switches and routers
• Backup systems, maintenance and best practices
• Ability to support and maintain FTP, DNS, Open Directory, DHCP, AFP and related services
• Ability to support and maintain a VPS web server
• Cursory web design and programming (HTML, CSS, WordPress)
• Traditional video equipment - broadcast tape decks and patch panels
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and be able to squeeze under desks or behind racks, as necessary
Preferred skills:
• Degree or certification in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering
• Apple Certified Support Professional, Technical Coordinator, or System Administrator
• Ability to QC and run an online session, reading scopes and following delivery specs
• Minor hardware repairs (soldering, wire termination)
• Scripting knowledge, including but not limited to Javascript and Applescript
• UNIX experience, bash scripts, regex
