POSITION SUMMARY: Provides administrative assistance to BMI songwriters and Publishers.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
• Respond to a substantial amount of phone calls and email inquiries of wide-ranging and complex issues requiring thorough, consuming investigation to correctly resolve.
• Maintain a working knowledge of BMI data base, systems, programs, policy and procedures, forms, documents and requirements for writers and publishers. Sort out problems for affiliates using online service accounts.
• Analyze and reconcile issues regarding royalty accounting, copyrights, statements, earnings, work registrations, catalogs, estates and payee accounts.
• Instruct and facilitate BMI affiliates with diverse requests such as change in copyright ownership, transfer royalty assignments, change publishing company structure, register new songs, update and correct work registrations, revise cue sheets, change name and address, direct deposit, and requests for song earnings, song catalog listings, royalty statements and tax forms.
• Issue emails and memos to stop payment to void and reissue royalty checks not received by BMI affiliates.
• Aid new writers and publishers joining BMI, answer questions regarding BMI writer and publisher applications, contractual agreements. Impart information about BMI and the music business to new writers and publishers, and direct them to organizations and sources to help further their careers.
• Receive visitors. Meet walk-ins. Interact professionally with the music industry and Nashville business community at events.
• Provide assistance to project teams to plan and execute their work and to identify and resolve issues.
• Establish relationships and trust by providing excellent, high quality execution while exceeding expectations.
• Arrange complex and detailed travel plans and itineraries and compile documents for travel-related meetings.
• Perform assigned tasks as directed demonstrating a sense of urgency and perform work within the scheduled time.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the functions of this job.
Normal office conditions.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience: 2-5 years administrative/office experience.
Skills and Abilities: This may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
• Must have a very good general overview of the music industry and all of its working parts.
• Must have an extensive knowledge of all aspects of the Nashville based music industry including publishers, labels, songwriters, etc.
• Must have a pleasant and caring demeanor, and be patient and helpful.
• Must be able to handle multiple large projects (event planning), assist three executives with overflow of phone calls and occasional scheduling, and handle affiliate inquiries simultaneously.
• Attention to detail.
• Must be proficient in MS Office. Experience working with and maintaining database systems and reports, as well as word processing and spreadsheets.
• Able to work independently and with good judgment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
