A&R/Creative Intern
This is a highly competitive internship in the A&R/Creative department of one of the largest music publishers in the world. Currently, we have an awesome intern on Monday & Wednesdays, but are looking for 1-2 more hungry interns with either of the following immediate availabilities: Tuesday & Thursday; Monday, Wednesday & Friday; Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.
You will be shadowing and providing project-based support to the A&R Assistant of BMG's Co-Heads of A&R and other team members.
KEY Projects & Training on...
- Preparing receipts, expense reports and invoices for processing
- Song registration & delivery processes and software: iMaestro, BMG's song delivery app and PRO & song/title research
- Learning about writer/producer budgets, advances, MDRCs, deal summaries and pre-payment and out of contracts advance letters
- Assisting with phone duties (Screening calls, coverage, transfers, conference call coordination, taking messages)
- Drafting digital A&R research reports (Nielsen Soundscan, Nielsen MusicConnect, Nielsen BDS and MediaBase Radio)
- Assisting with live A&R research (Scouting artists, songwriters and producers, attending shows and reporting back to the team)
SECONDARY:
- Attending weekly A&R/Creative Department meetings & BMG-wide town hall meetings
- Compiling and maintaining the BMG Global Tour Calendar
- Assisting with social media curation and website data entry
- Assisting with greeting and taking care of BMG guests (songwriters, artists, producers, managers, agents and other day to day guests)
- Assisting with setup of music showcases, listening sessions and departmental meetings
- Occasional food and drink runs for senior executives and guests
- Attending shows outside normal internship hours
- Taking a break to demo our VR gaming system or playing a game of ping pong at least one a day just because
The ideal candidate will:
- Have very strong attention to detail
- Have very strong writing/follow-up skills
- Be bright, confident, and extremely motivated
- Possess an outgoing personality and strong communication skills
- Possess a strong knowledge of the current climate and the recent history of at least one major musical genre (more is a huge plus!)
- A strong working knowledge of OS X, Google Docs, and Microsoft Office
- Have reliable transportation to our offices in Miracle Mile (A car is a plus, but is not required)
- Possess a personal laptop that they will bring to the internship daily (this is also not required, but very strongly preferred)
- Have a strong love of music. This is absolutely mandatory, and non-negotiable =).
This is an unpaid internship, and proof of college credit is required. We will compensate for gas (not including to/from the office), and any other direct expenses incurred.
