Be a part of one of the most respected media brands in the world. BBC Worldwide North America has an opportunity for a self-starter with energy and hunger to succeed publicizing the best of British brands ranging from award-winning dramas and comedies to landmark natural history series. As the Senior Publicist you will have the unique opportunity to play an integral role in driving publicity campaigns across four key businesses; theatrical/live events, home entertainment, BBC.com, and digital and linear TV sales and co-productions for the U.S. and Canada. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an out of the box approach to publicity and have front line experience in developing and executing comprehensive PR programs surrounding the aforementioned business areas, with proven success in a fast-paced, multi-divisional environment
Responsibilities:
- Work with Director of Publicity to develop integrated communications strategies for digital/home entertainment, licensing, BBC.com, and TV sales/co-productions encompassing traditional and digital media, social media, high-profile speaker opportunities and events. Must deliver activity against this plan.
- Write clear and effective press communications: press releases, media alerts, talent letter, briefing books, production notes and more.
- Identify news angles for product launches and acquisitions
- Pitch and facilitate interviews and speaking engagements for division spokespeople to enhance brand profile at the forefront of the industry.
- Coordinate talent requests for clients.
- Carry out evaluation of key campaigns to assess effectiveness and cut-through.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key trade, consumer and social media writers.
- Oversee management and maintenance of press website.
- Manage press lists and coordinate image requests
- Work to raise the profile of the key executives in trade outlets; establish and prioritize key activity and execute.
- Play an active role in crafting crisis management plans.
Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum 5 years trade media, communications/PR experience with an emphasis on TV sales/co-productions and/or digital.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey information succinctly and effectively in writing, by telephone and in person.
- Passion and drive to continue to learn and excel within department with the hunger to excel in all aspects of the position.
- Resourceful and able to react to troubleshooting quickly and effectively.
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to develop a succinct communication plan for the kick-off of initiatives both external and internal.
- Ability to deal with all levels effectively and politely e.g. business heads, talent, co-workers, general public.
