The Role:
Financial accounting and provision of accurate and timely financial information to support the BBC Worldwide Productions (America) team in providing best practice financial services to Finance Business Partners, the Central Finance teams and Content & Programming. The role will report in to the Director, Finance & Accounting.
Dimensions:
This role focuses on managing the accounting and financial reporting for BBCWW Content & Programming Division in the US.
Key Accountabilities:
Participate in monthly and year-end financial closing process, including preparation of journal entries, analysis schedules, and reconciliations. Maintain month-end tracker to ensure all closing tasks are performed by deadlines.
Prepare/review show P&Ls and analyze show profitability to highlight any potential variances or discrepancies from forecast/budget projections prior to month-end close.
Review production cost reports and prepare uploads to SAP.
Prepare monthly flash and financial reports. Highlight any issues or changes to forecast.
Perform detailed review of Profit and Loss accounts, Balance Sheets and produce written commentaries.
Assist with management of C&P balance sheet accounts and ensure account reconciliations are completed monthly and any adjusting entries are posted on a timing basis.
Produce quarterly forecast and annual budget templates, schedules and documents as required.
Help coordinate external audits for C&P. Ensure completion of interim and year-end audit schedules.
Coordinate billings and maintain show billings schedules.
Provide business and financial expertise to ad hoc projects.
Coordinate with IT on SAP system set-up.
Experience / Skills Required:
2-4 years relevant experience in month-end close or public accounting.
Strong computer skills with a good working knowledge of the SAP and Business Warehouse (BW) accounting and reporting system (preferable) and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong Excel skills are a must.
CPA is a plus but not required.
Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the divisions management and central accounts team, at all levels within Worldwide and the BBC.
The ability to use own initiative, and work under pressure maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Prior experience in entertainment industry accounting with knowledge of film forecast method (ASC 926 - previously SOP 00-2) desired but not required.
