Synopsis:
The Tuba Thieves is an art film about a Deaf drummer whose relationships with her hearing father and hearing boyfriend are impacted by tuba thefts in Los Angeles area high schools and the reverberations of two concerts from the past: the 1952 premier of John Cage's 4'33'' and a 1980 punk concert hosted by Bruce Conner at The Deaf Club in San Francisco.

The audience will be composed of a diverse range of ages. From Kyle Gann's book No SuchThing as Silence: ''The audience was made up partly of sophisticates of the avant garde, partly of local [Woodstock] music lovers, and partly of vacationing members of the New York
Philharmonic.'' Hair, accessories and attire will portray both conservative and bohemian aesthetics of 1952.
