Full Time Unpaid Internship
The role of the Baseball Systems Intern is to assist and support the Diamondback’s Research & Development group in the maintenance and support of hardware, software and other systems.
Primary (Essential) Duties:
1. Assist the Baseball Systems Lead Architect with maintenance and improvement of current database infrastructures, while also managing interaction with multiple outside data sources.
2. Assist with the processing and maintaining of data feeds from various sources via Rest API and XML/JSON loads.
3. Assist with the database performance tuning, security, developing high availability solutions, replication, and solution strategies.
4. Plan, design and implement special projects at the direction of R&D staff.
5. Other Duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
• Desire to work with people in a demanding yet highly rewarding industry.
• Be detail oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and should be able to flourish in a high growth, dynamic environment.
• Self-starter needing little direction. Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks concurrently while meeting aggressive deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and a desire to learn and implement modern technologies.
• Working knowledge of advanced baseball statistics and sabermetric concepts
Experience/Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Development or a related field with a strong technical background.
• Strong experience with SQL (particularly Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)).
• Experience with varied programming and scripting languages (Spark, Python, C , Java, Ruby, R…).
