Ant Farm, a leading creative entertainment company located at the Farmers Market/The Grove in Los Angeles, has an entry level opening for a Freelance Jr. Digital Designer in our Digital Design Group. The Jr. Digital Designer contributes conceptual development and the execution of creative deliverables that meet client objectives under the direction of an Art Director and the Creative Director. This role is designed to support the creative and production teams while providing exposure to how an agency functions.
Responsibilities include creating and communicating concepts, implementing marketing strategies and developing digital design solutions. Reporting to an Art Director (and/or Creative Director) the Jr. Digital Designer will work with a collaborative team of designers, developers, copywriters, information architects and production specialists. Balancing creative thinking with interpersonal skills, this person will demonstrate an ability to justify concepts to the project team.
Responsibilities:
• Ability to take creative direction.
• Provides new ways of approaching problems and solutions using existing technology.
• Takes an active role in thinking about clients' business, and consistently supports team success; understands client's business and brand and marketing objectives; proactively contributes to their evolution and success.
• Understanding of The Ant Farm's vision, philosophy and workflow process and is a contributor to their development.
• Participates as a Creative team member in new-business development efforts.
• Works with appropriate account representative on all projects.
• Developing concepts and communicating ideas.
• Providing quality assurance of all creative deliverables.
• Contribute to the innovative development of the Creative department.
• Follows creative direction of senior Creative staff and Account staff.
• Maintain knowledge of latest industry trends and best practice methods.
Technical Qualifications:
• Expertise in design software on Mac and/or PC. Advanced Photoshop, basic/intermediate Illustrator skills required.
• Must understand Flash and have demonstrable experience with the program doing basic animation. Actionscript programming skill is not a must as a part of the requirement of Flash experience, but it is a huge plus. Expert Flash experience definitely preferred.
• Knowledge of Dreamweaver or basic HTML desirable.
• Understanding of the strengths and limitations of After Effects, Video Streaming Technologies, QuickTime and Final Cut Pro.
• Knowledge of current rich media technologies and their relevant applications.
• Animation skills and a knowledge of 3D rendering, video and sound editing desirable.
Design and Conceptual Qualifications:
• Strong conceptual development and typographic skills.
• The ability to maintain high design and motion graphics standards within the Digital Design Group.
Leadership Qualifications:
• Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and departments.
• Be on the pulse of current and emerging trends.
Personal Qualifications:
• Enrolled in or graduated from a degree program in a related field (digital design, graphic design, advertising, etc.).
• Portfolio review required.
• In-depth industry knowledge. Clearly understands, and is able to articulate, the limitations and possibilities of the space.
• Superior communication, organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proven aptitude for quick creative thinking with acute attention to detail within demanding deadlines.
• A willingness to learn.
