Amazon Studios is chartered with producing original content and licensing studio programs worldwide in service of Amazon's Prime Video customers. This includes distinctive, critically-claimed award-winning originals like Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle and ground-breaking, popular shows like The Man in the High Castle.
We are seeking three Sr. Strategy Managers (Director to AVP-level equivalents in Hollywood) to be a part of a Strategy Team, which covers both Amazon Studios' original content and licensed studio programming. The core mission of the Strategy Team is to manage and support our global content selection plans and investment in original content in 190 countries worldwide. This is done by analyzing the competitive marketplace, working with senior executives to set strategy, monitoring market-by-market and cohort-by-cohort performance, leading business planning, routinely re-evaluating current assumptions, data and processes, and pro-actively identifying new opportunities to excel or differentiate, and craft timely, detailed and actionable recommendations. In addition, this team will be leading and analyzing new business and partnership opportunities in the content space. This role will report to the Head of Strategy and work closely with all senior leaders of the organization in licensing, operations, original television and movies.
Candidates should be brilliant, great with data (but better with people), independently-motivated (but great at collaboration), equipped with strong opinions (but willing to change their minds), ambitious and be driven to change the media-tech landscape.
Key activities include:
• Establish goals, plans and related metrics, track progress, and manage through obstacles to achieve program objectives
• Author business documents and reports to communicate state of the business or recommend new content business initiatives
• Create reporting and dashboards for key metrics to illustrate progress against goals to support team activities and report to management on weekly/monthly basis
• Work cross functionally with the content licensing team, original production teams, research, production, finance, marketing and legal departments to document and define initiatives and drive them through execution
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications
• Bachelor's degree is required in business, finance, economics, data science, marketing or related fields
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to work with business owners to define key business questions and to build data sets that answer those questions
• Demonstrated success in leading a team to achieve aggressive short, medium and long-term goals
• Strong leader who can prioritize well and communicate clearly, both verbal and written, across all levels of the organization with a proven ability to influence others
• Demonstrated bias for action with strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
• Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss business and technical concepts, schedule tradeoffs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas
• A passion for content, brands, digital media and digital video
• At least 3 years of employment experience in a business strategy consulting firm or strategic planning group at a major Hollywood studio or media company
