Amazon Studios is the original content arm of Amazon.com. In the past year we have launched twelve television series for adults and children, and we recently launched Amazon Original Movies with plans to scale up to deliver twelve films per year to theaters and Prime Video. In our first two years of television production, our series have won Emmys, Golden Globes, Critics' Choice Awards, Annie Awards and numerous other awards. We are growing rapidly and are honored to be working with fantastically talented artists on behalf of millions of film and TV fans on Amazon. We are seeking an experienced business analyst with a passion for high-quality movies who wants to help a busy movies distribution and business affairs team continue to grow and evolve.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to complete high volumes of complex tasks and projects quickly with little to no guidance; react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround; take effective action without having to know the total picture; and efficiently and creatively solve difficult or complex problems that affect people within the business. The candidate will also have great attention to detail and organization skills, as well as the ability to switch gears at a moment's notice. A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and professionalism in dealing with senior professionals inside and outside the company is key. This position is located in Santa Monica, California.
Responsibilities:
- Tracking of distribution deals, including theatrical, home video, and international from a cost and revenue perspective
- Maintaining detailed spreadsheets with forecasted spend on production and P&A as well as expected revenues from external sources
- Extracting and updating key financial terms from development, acquisition and production deals for studios database
- Working with internal teams including finance, production, creative and other teams within Amazon to establish best practices in reporting and forecasting
- Research market segments, new and existing technologies and business models
Qualifications
• Must have excellent analytical skills and be a strong quantitative thinker
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong proficiency in Excel, and ability to analyze and draw conclusions from data
• 4-year college degree with a major or large amount of coursework in business, economics, statistics, or similar and at least 2 years work experience in a relevant role (or advanced graduate level study)
• A top-tier school, and a record of high achievement is a plus
• The ability to interact effectively and professionally with Amazon executives at all levels, as well as outside producers, agents and creative partners, is required.
• High attention to detail withetailed planning, time management, and organizational skills
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• High levels of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
• Database management experience
• Experience with building complex financial models
• Detailed knowledge of entertainment, new digital trends and technologies
