The New York office is seeking a National Publicity Junior/Coordinator that will work to promote films, products and brands for a variety of high-profile clients.
Position:
National Publicity Junior Publicist/ Coordinator - New York
General Description:
The National Publicity Junior Publicist/ Coordinator will assist with and execute publicity campaigns for major entertainment, brand, and lifestyle clients under direction from the Director of National Publicity and overall direction from Senior Vice President, National Publicity.
A Publicity Junior/ Coordinator is required to work on the following duties:
• Implement publicity campaigns for A-list clients in the entertainment, brand, and lifestyle category under the leadership and direction of the Director of National Publicity
• Cultivate relationships with a wide variety of press including film critics, columnists, feature writers, bloggers, editors, television/radio show hosts, producers and reporters in order to secure features, event coverage, and top photo placement in the New York City Area
• Manage strategic placement of media to generate excitement for film releases, openings and launches through press coverage, traditional and social media and grassroots promotions
• Draft press releases and media alerts
• Write and compile comprehensive reports of all activities documented with photos, press breaks and any additional collateral for clients on a weekly basis
• Research and develop relationships with new media or press in various mediums
• Assist Director of National Publicity and National Publicity team in research, planning, execution and management of publicity campaigns
• Perform outreach (to), and maintain relationships with digital publicity contacts
• Compile, organize and assemble appropriate reporting/recaps for client and projects as directed by manager
• Organize and track press clippings and publicity breaks
General Responsibilities include:
• Develop strong client relationships and always meet client deadlines
• Interact daily with clients, vendors, executives, and internal staff at all levels
• Administrative tasks including billing, vendor management, expense processing, etc.
• Some evenings and weekends required based on event requirements
• Participate in brainstorming sessions with team
• Compile publicity reporting for clients for overall team
• Research non-traditional media and from relationships with them for new publicity opportunities
• Pull and service publicity breaks to clients
• Support Director of National Publicity with projects and account management needs as directed
Preferred skills/experience:
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills to effectively interact with press, clients and all levels of internal staff
• Flexible, resourceful and able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing and growing environment
• Detail-oriented and creative
• Strong knowledge of social media including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, etc.
• At least 2-3 years experience in publicity and/or digital communications in similar field
• Bachelor degree in marketing, communications or public relations preferred
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a team and sense of urgency
• Ability to work in a speed-of-light-fast paced environment, juggle multiple accounts, prioritize and maintain focus
• Comfortable prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Easy able to adapt and anticipate client needs
• Enjoy the neatness of reporting, spreadsheets and presenting information in an at-a-glance format that's concise and organized
• Ability to work during normal business hours in New York office and cover occasional evening and weekend events
• Competent with agency tools such as Constant Contact, Cision, and PR Newswire
