JOB SPECIFICATION:
A E is looking to bring in a SALES MANAGER, International Content Sales, EMEA. The core responsibility is to maximize revenues from the distribution from a 12,000-hour factual library, growing by 1,100 new hours each year and from the distribution of a TV movie and drama series catalogue. The library and new commissions include the lion's share of the content from 3 of the top 10 pay-tv channels in the US market. It includes >95% of the company's entire commissioning of unscripted content, more than half its commissioned Lifetime Movies, and is growing to include substantial dramas and miniseries. It also includes distribution of many of its local international productions. This role will plan, direct and execute program sales activities for the A E International division with a concentration on TERRITIORIES.
TERRITORIES:
POLAND, CZECH REPUBLIC, SLOVAKIA, HUNGARY ROMANIA, BULGARIA, SLOVENIA, CROATIA, SERBIA, BALTICS [subject to change]
Responsibilities:
oAchieve the annual sales budget for TERRITORIES.
oManage the negotiation and closing of deals with Television broadcasters in order to expand distribution and increase sales for owned and acquired product across TERRITORIES.
oDevelop strategies to grow the business across TERRITORIES, including benchmarking against competitors in business results, processes and structures.
oServe to establish and enhance relationships with TERRITORIES broadcasters, with intention of maximising potential sales of the company's product.
oIn coordination with sales support, distribution and marketing, conceive, develop and implement product-packaging strategies that maximize incremental revenue opportunities.
oWorking closely with the digital sales team, help drive AETN revenues from new market streams.
oDevelop strong relationships with key executives and administrators internally as well as others related to the company's interests and operations on an international basis, including Channels, Programming, Consumer Products, Marketing, etc.
oMonitor the marketplace for changes that affect sales activities, both directly and indirectly.
oInform customers of upcoming A&E Corporate events, product programs and services.
oFollow up with clients on requests and co-ordinate solutions to contract/distribution issues where required.
oCreate and maintain a strong working relationship with clients and other related parties.
oUtilise research effectively and provide creative and marketing input, as required, in order to establish the best possible sales strategies.
oRemain abreast of trends in television programming across national boundaries.
oTravel extensively to key territories and attend pertinent industry functions and markets to ensure the company's interests and objectives are properly represented.
Background and experience:
This person will be a highly experienced manager with an outstanding track record in content distribution with strong expertise in scripted content, good team management capabilities and the ability to take a strategic view of the business in each market and across the region. In addition, this person will be an expert deal-doer and will have the ability to drive sales directly in key markets. It is important that this person is used to working cross culturally and has the ability to adapt to local market conditions, adding value to the complexity and establishing positive relationships across the region. As a manager in a matrixed role, this person must be able to exert influence and achieve success not only through leadership and sales ability but also via persuasion, market knowledge, intellect, and personal relationships.
o3 years of prior proven experience as a sales assistant or executive for a major international program distributor.
oDemonstrates the ability to meet high volume of sales.
oWorking knowledge of the television business in territories.
oKnowledge of multiple languages a plus.
