Job Description:
The Director, HR serves as a strategic business partner to help maintain and develop the organization's human resources needs and to ensure ASCAP remains an employer of choice. The Director, HR will report to and partner with the SVP, HR to establish HR/business related strategies and objectives and deliver designated outcomes. This position will have significant responsibility in the areas including but not limited to talent acquisition/recruiting, talent development/training, performance management, HR policy/strategy, communications and change management, compliance, employee culture initiatives, morale building efforts, and HR special projects.
Areas of responsibility/accountability:
• Provides employee relations services including counseling, conflict resolution, disciplinary action and policy administration and interpretation.
• Oversees ASCAP's Talent Acquisition Process to ensure open positions are being filled quickly with qualified and talented candidates.
• Identifies appropriate and effective external sources for candidates for all levels within the organization.
• Counsels supervisors and employees on performance and behavior enhancement.
• Responsible for implementing and managing employee Performance Improvement Plans.
• Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; liaising with outside counsel, conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings, etc.
• Manages ASCAP's Performance Management Program to ensure effective employee performance to achieve organizational goals.
• Reviews and analyzes HR/employee data to identify trends related to (and recommend solutions to improve) performance, productivity, and employee retention.
• Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
• Analyzes staff training needs to design employee development.
• Conducts leadership and development training for employees and managers.
• Oversees ASCAP Onboarding Program to ensure new talent is able to seamlessly integrate into the organization.
• Accomplishes special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Develops, plans, and coordinates employee events and morale boosting initiatives to foster a positive, unique and fun company culture/work environment.
• Serves as an ambassador of culture for the company.
• Supervises, trains, and develops HR team members
Qualifications and Requirements:
• A positive and open attitude, engaging and trustworthy presence, strong work ethic and initiative, relentless commitment to success, and attention to detail.
• Able to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
• Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate changing needs.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments; strong project management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop direct reports.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Commitment to confidentiality at all levels.
• 6 years of progressive HR experience with strong emphasis on talent acquisition/management, training and development and employee relations.
• Bachelor's degree in human resources administration, business administration, organization development, psychology or a related field.
• Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement preferred.
