Job Description:
The VP and Privacy and Compliance Counsel, located in A E's New York office, will be responsible for building and overseeing A E's global data privacy and security program in A E's Legal & Business Affairs group. This role will develop strategies to support the collection, use, transfer, storage and security of data collected across A E's operational divisions in different locations. A E currently has offices in the U.S., UK, Italy, Japan, Korea and Singapore.
Responsibilities
to include:
* Build, develop, draft and implement privacy governance processes, policies and procedures.
* Perform audits and assessments to ensure compliance with all internal policies, laws and regulations related to privacy and data security.
* Manage privacy policies, terms of use and self-regulatory notices across digital properties.
* Strategically effectuate A E's business goals in compliance with data privacy laws, self-regulatory regimes and best practices.
* Solicit input from business stakeholders and gather information.
* Monitor, track and report on global data protection rules, laws and regulations, including those specific to A E's business.
* Consult with business stakeholders on questions and issues related to privacy and data security. Work with multiple business stakeholders and speak with management on privacy and data security matters.
* Develop and conduct privacy training and awareness for employees.
* Respond to and track privacy complaints and requests globally.
* Work on various other compliance related matters.
Skills/Abilities:
* Ability to effectively work individually, and as a team player.
* Ability to learn quickly, multi-task and prioritize high volume of initiatives, good judgment and excellent analytical and follow-through skills.
* Willingness to learn and develop practical solutions to global privacy and data security challenges, as well as, compliance generally.
* Knowledge of technology platforms and data flows, including cloud, digital advertising, digital media, consumer marketing and social platforms, as well as devices.
* Excellent drafting skills and ability to clearly and succinctly communicate advice.
Experience:
* Minimum of 7-10 years' experience at a law firm and/or in-house, focused on issues related to privacy and data security matters, including, cross-border data transfers and incident response.
* CIAPP/US required and CIAPP/E preferred.
* Experience with global data privacy regimes and compliance requirements, and developing and drafting related policies and procedures.
Education:
* Bachelor's Degree, and J.D. with current bar membership
