POSITION SUMMARY
Oversee the development and production of unscripted series & specials for A&E, from conception and deal-making to pilot to production supervision and delivery. Key contributor to overall unscripted programming strategy.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop new series and specials.
Active contributor to the overall network strategy.
Supervise production of unscripted programs and series; review and approve outlines, scripts, rough cuts, budgets and post-production; maintain integrity, quality, credibility and audience interest in A&E unscripted programs.
Responsible for unscripted programming for the network. Determine nonfiction output and implementation; accumulate knowledge of A&E and other networks' schedules and trends; grow A&E viewership through competitive actions
Hands on responsibilities as Executive Producer for assigned projects.
Represent the network at industry or professional groups, meetings and events.
Monitor trends and contribute to strategy for the unscripted programming to meet the changing viewership demands
Required Experience:
In-depth knowledge of long-form unscripted programming with strong ratings performance; proven track record in developing successful series; working knowledge of production techniques and procedures, and legal issues; experience in supervising and/or field production of reality-based programs; proven storytelling, writing and editorial abilities; staff supervision experience
Minimum of 7 years' experience at a broadcast or cable network, syndicated, major market local station, production company or equivalent organization, working on news, documentary or reality programming.
Required Education:
BA or BS
