Summary of Position:
Proven leader who can identify consumer and cultural insights to inform and enhance strategy for content development, marketing positioning, and contextualizing brand health. Must have a comprehensive understanding of macro and mega trends, and the ability to interpret how they will affect future socio-economic changes and population shifts. In addition, the candidate should have an understanding of distinct population segments in the U.S., and their evolving impact on content and brands. Candidate must be proficient in the media landscape, in order to connect how broader cultural and social trends influence viewing trends and marketing receptivity - both historical and future-leaning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Must possess the unique ability to transform cultural and social trends into actionable marketing, targeting, and programming strategies
• Imperative that the individual has an understanding of the subtleties that influence values, attitudes and behavior among key segments of the population.
• Has to be seasoned in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Candidate will be responsible for spearheading studies that will help drive audience insights that will impact marketing and content teams.
• Be immersed in the plethora of subcultural currents that comprise our complex and diverse modern communications.
• Individual will be responsible for overseeing primary research studies, including evaluating vendor proposals, implementing a variety of approaches or methods, project management, and internal activation.
• Intimate knowledge of the media industry, particularly across the television landscape.
• Passion for their trade and the television business is paramount.
• Excellent Project Management skills are essential.
• Manage entire studies including experiment design, data analysis and presentation. Understand when to organize key stakeholders and who to include.
Qualification Requirements
• Bachelor's degree; masters or graduate degree highly desirable. Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology degree preferred.
• Possess a solid understanding of qualitative research procedures (e.g. ethnography, focus groups).
• Sound quantitative background, including questionnaire development and design, statistical analytics, modeling, and segmentation experience.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; must excel at narrative development, having a holistic perspective, providing concise/actionable insights, and translating insights to a non-research audience.
• Possesses strong problem solving skills with the ability to explain the logic behind their solutions in a clear and concise manner.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present insights and recommendations persuasively, in a compelling, easy to understand manner.
• Demonstrated success in and enjoys working in an entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking skills.
• Self-motivated and proactive with incredible attention to detail.
