POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform general accounting, financial reporting, analysis, budgeting & forecasting functions and special projects for the Sales and Marketing business areas within individual networks A&E, History, FYI, H2, Crime & Investigation, History en Español, Military History Channel, Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network and Lifetime Real Women.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
•Support high volume of Sales & Marketing sub-departments within Ad Sales, Affiliate Sales, Consumer Marketing and Research business areas providing proper financial training, ad hoc reporting and customer service when necessary; Interact and correspond with a high volume of operational staff within these business areas which includes budget/line managers, coordinators and finance department liaisons for the individual networks mentioned above.
•Book all monthly accrual and adjusting journal entries during close process and when required. Collect, review and work with budget managers to reconcile accrual tracking spreadsheets that are utilized to book monthly accruals; Resolve account coding issues.
•Prepare monthly financial reporting which includes (a) P&L schedules needed for monthly controller and CFO review meetings and (b) top level operating expense and G&A expense reports required for monthly SVP financial review meetings.
•Provide analysis of variances between actual versus budgeted results during monthly financial closes, explain and document all material variances or issues on the above mentioned schedules and reports. Analyze and document variance explanations between actual versus budgeted results and actual versus prior year results for monthly Finance Committee meeting presentation.
•Conduct periodic budget review meetings with operational directors and finance liaisons. Produce and distribute monthly reports to discuss results for the period and address pertinent issues regarding budget risk & opportunities in a timely fashion.
•Facilitate quarterly forecasts and annual budget processes with the sub-departments.
•Perform accounting and tracking of barter revenue and expense activity. Provide budget managers and network finance managers and directors guidance in budgeting and forecasting barter values. Review all potential deals with finance managers and directors to ensure all barter elements are booked in accordance with GAAP.
•Maintain accurate tracking of all integrated ad sales deals and partnerships; Review all deals to ensure proper accounting will be implemented. Periodically review the status of deals with the Ad Sales department to ensure all reimbursable expenses have been recouped.
•Perform monthly and quarterly detailed balance sheet and G&A account analysis.
•Provide support to Sr. Manager, Accounting and Sr. Director, Financial Reporting on ad-hoc projects.
Required Experience:
REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS in Accounting and minimum 4-5 years accounting experience desired. CPA is desired but not required. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and proficient Word skills are required. A working knowledge of SAP and Computron Accounting Systems are desired, but not required. Experience working in TV broadcast, entertainment or media industries is highly desired. Candidate should have a strong general accounting knowledge, ability to analyze financial results and is capable of establishing accounting and analytical procedures. Candidate should be highly organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task. Candidate should have excellent communication skills, both written and oral which includes a strong ability to articulate and present financial data & procedures to non-financial managers and staff.
