Full Time Job
Position Summary:
• Experienced attorney or rights professional with Rights Management and New Media licensing experience to perform legal analysis, risk assessment and ongoing management in support of A E Networks.
• Work closely with Scheduling, IT, Distribution, Broadcast Operations, Finance and Digital to develop and implement strategies, systems and workflows necessary for the A E Networks.
Primary Responsibilities:
Risk Assessment:
-Communicate with various network business units for rights information on ''new episodes'' where rights bibles are not delivered in a timely manner, and episode needs to be featured on various platforms.
-Perform risk assessment of programs without rights bibles for inclusion on all media platforms and execute decisions.
Legal Analysis:
- Perform legal analysis of all agreements, including programming and rights bible deliverables (e.g. licenses, releases, etc.) for each episode of the series across the network.
- Create a user-friendly rights availability report to Scheduling for each media right based on legal analysis
- Communicate black-out reports
- Fair use Assessment – have discussions concerning Fair use claims with counsel; decide on Fair Use claims with Supervisor.
Project Management:
- Manage overall process for rights, end dates, rights restrictions.
- Manage and update the rights management database (Jaguar) for commissioned programs, series options, acquisitions/licensed programs.
- Work with the scheduling team on a daily basis in providing up to the minute cleared content as new program rights information is assessed.
- Work with Distribution Team on replacement titles, changes to available content, and analyzing availability for TVE/OTT.
- Work with IT to create new software solutions with internal systems for Rights needs.
- Work with Operations department on rights related inquiries (last minute title changes, rights restrictions, etc.).
Qualification Requirements Required Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years legal experience at a media company or entertainment law firm. Media rights knowledge must be superior; experience in rights management software a must. Educational Requirements B.A. or B.S. required; J.D., admitted to a State Bar preferred Other Skills and Knowledge TBD Company Overview: TBD
