A E Networks has an amazing Director Publicity, Lifetime opportunity in our Los Angeles office. This role is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing communications strategies for Lifetime programming spanning reality and scripted series, and original movies. This position is responsible for all aspects of a project launch and on-going publicity support including, but not limited to, creating written and electronic materials that are serviced both internally and externally, securing media coverage and managing talent relations. Position works closely with producers, executives and talent as well as studio counterparts to maximize exposure for network priorities and collaborates with executives from other business units including programming, marketing, digital, social and international. Position also contributes to awards campaign efforts for the networks' shows, events, premieres and screenings throughout the year.
Specifically, the Director of Publicity, Lifetime will:
• Develop and create strategies to launch a project from greenlight inception to launch.
• Must analyze and identify key media targets that will most effectively reach and attract Lifetime viewers across all mediums.
• Strategically pitch media outlets on programming-specific priorities, in addition to brand and corporate needs.
• Maintain positive relationships with the media across consumer, cable, digital and entertainment segments.
• Write press kits, press releases, talent bios, pitch letters, talking points, and electronic press kit materials while also pulling creative assets for the best press material product.
• Work closely with talent, show creators, production, programming executives and various departments across the company.
Qualification Requirements The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
• Minimum 4 years' experience in public relations, corporate communications, or related field. Cable TV experience preferred, but not required.
• Must understand the cable television landscape and proven experience working with studios and production teams. Proven knowledge of television business, including ratings, programming, production, ad sales and affiliate relations.
• Proven solid relationships with major press outlets including magazines, consumer print press, consumer TV, television trades, online press outlets and blogs and business media.
• Demonstrated independent and strategic thinker, able to take initiative and follow through on projects. This position requires the ability to work independently and with authority to act as a spokesperson on behalf of the network to major national media outlets.
• Ability to generate and present original work and concepts. Experienced in problem solving and managing high-level critical situations.
Educational Requirements B.A./B.S. degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field.
