Lead Technician (Temporary)
• The Lead Technician works directly with the Technical Supervisor, always executing and communicating all procedures, processes, workflows and directives set forth.
• Act as liaison to the Technical Supervisor, supporting on a dashboard level all producers utilizing facility resources. Help to enforce workflows and educate clients regarding new and existing procedures from a technical perspective.
• Provide overall technical support, management and assistance to Editors, Assistant Editors, Manager of Graphics, Graphics artists, and Studio Production team; alerting, coordinating and overseeing engineering involvement as needed.
• Work directly with Edit Support to review all incoming requests, always prioritizing requests based on volume and deadline. In some instances act as the sole representative of that process during the second shift.
• Assist Technical Supervisor with any assignments, overflow and testing; included but not limited to internal training, troubleshooting, technical document creation and communication with external vendors. Help to create new and refine existing workflows to improve efficiency and increase employee knowledge base.
• Coordinate with Broadcast Operations and Media Asset Services to confirm delivery and receipt of scheduled deliverables.
• While this is a Lead role, there are no direct reports to this position. However, the ideal candidate must be able to separate themselves from the team and manage personnel within the workflow. Candidate will be relied on to engage in conflict resolution as well as be empowered to make certain decisions on management's behalf, especially during the second shift when management is less present.
• Responsible for formal communication and coordination of all necessary notifications and technical reports from end of shift, to be distributed to the Director of Technical Operations as well as other departmental and incoming shift personnel as needed.
• When necessary, assume Media Administrator responsibilities on the second shift; including but not limited to asset and project management on Interplay, ISIS, FTP, and Archive systems. Following and executing procedures when it comes to project creation and asset deletion as needed.
Qualification Requirements
• BA/BS in Communications or related field or related vocational education.
• 3-5 years television production supervisor role or similar, in a fast-paced, high volume facility.
• Ability to manage expectations of client base while maintaining a customer service approach.
• Expert knowledge of Avid and Premiere NLEs. Avid Interplay, file-based workflows, asset management systems, production equipment (studio and on location) and emerging technologies.
• Proficient in transcoding software and relative applications.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting video and audio scopes. Experience in Quality Control is a plus.
• Flexibility in shift work for backfill as needed.
• A company phone will be provided, and therefore the candidate must be willing to answer calls, and emails, beyond their normal working hours.
• Ability to work unsupervised to provide hands-on support, guidance, and troubleshooting for technical testing and client support as well as communicate evolving workflows and procedures.
• Experience with MAM and PAM systems is a plus.
