Responsible for the development of unscripted series and specials for History as well as the management of current series. This includes working with outside production companies and agents to identify new series & specials for the network as well as contributing to the success of the brand through self-generated ideas. This role is both a development and production oversight position.
Direct the development and production of unscripted programming (series, specials) that deliver on the brand vision.
Supervise the development of original programming; approve scripts; recommend talent; manage budgets
Develop relationships with producers and agents with the agenda to entice them to bring their talents and talent to the network
Effectively articulate the brand strategy and ensure that our shows are on-brand
Work in collaboration with the marketing, research and distribution departments to assist in the development of successful marketing plans and promotions to amplify new programs
Work closely with the Digital team to produce short form content that is on-brand and enhances linear viewing
Qualification Requirements 5-7 years experience as a development/show runner at a cable/broadcast network or a production company
Must possess a love and knowledge of non-fiction television
Strategic thinker, excellent writing and negotiating skills, ability to execute on creative ideas
Strong negotiating skills in order to achieve cost efficient programming
Must be versed in trends within the industry in order to maintain History's competitive edge
