POSITION SUMMARY
Oversee current series, and develop & oversee new scripted and unscripted series and specials for LMN (A E Networks). This includes Identifying great projects, self-generating fresh ideas, and working with the Programming Team to develop the next generation of hit series for LMN. This is both a development and production oversight (EP) position. The primary role of this position, however, is to manage the development and production of original scripted programming in a hands-on way for LMN. Candidates must have a tv scripted development and production supervision track record and strong contacts in the scripted business.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop pilots, series and specials. Maintain high degree of knowledge of events, trends and competition; seek out trends and ideas and keep LMN in the forefront of industry and viewer's minds.
Supervise production of pilots and start up of series as assigned. Review and approve concepts, outlines, scripts if necessary, rough cuts, budgets and post-production; maintain integrity, quality, credibility and audience interest in A&E programs.
Monitor and guide entire deal making process between production companies and legal and business affairs department. Strong knowledge of deal structures, rights, options, and talent negotiations a must.
Contribute to LMN programming strategy; monitor trends in current programming to make LMN current and competitive.
Develop strong relationships with outside producers and vendors. Make LMN a destination for creative ideas.
Required Experience:
5 – 7 years experience in programming at a broadcast or cable network and/or a production company with oversight responsibilities for multiple projects. Concrete development experience, including piloting, planning and strategy, a must. Strong working knowledge of TV/film production techniques, ideally running the gamut from writing to shooting to scripting to editing to post-production. Background in working with on-air talent and program management. Field and post experience a plus.
Required Education:
BA or BS Degree
