Digital Marketing/Production Designer (Project)
The Digital Marketing Production Designer will play a pivotal role in the production, maintenance, and promotion of A E's portfolio of websites and digital media products that are shaping the television/video industry. This position will work side-by-side with all members of the design team (on brands such as A&E, History, Lifetime, FYI, and LMN) to produce beautiful, compelling and innovative products that span across digital platforms and include executions on desktop, tablet, smartphone and emerging platforms (such as Apple TV and Roku). This role will also work closely with our Digital Marketing team to design ad campaigns for current products, as well as provide design solutions for A/B testing of our Subscription Video On Demand products. In addition, this role will support Ad Sales sweepstakes and initiatives for current and potential sponsors.
Work closely with design team across all products and brands in order to gain an understanding of product direction, design direction, brand direction/style, business goals, and user needs.
• Attend product sprint reviews, meet with designers on product teams, review all brand style guides. Contribute to discussion at design team meetings.
Design, manipulate, and optimize visual assets to support the portfolio of digital products across all platforms (desktop, tablet, mobile, OTT). Images must work within responsive designs and across varying browsers and platforms. Examples include:
• Responsive website images for network shows, movies, and photo galleries.
• Images for apps (mobile and OTT).
• Images for third-party content distributers (Vessel, Whip Clip, You Tube…).
• Promotional images for upcoming shows, movies, and specials that live within our websites and apps.
• An occasional info-graphic or other exclusive content/imagery may need to be created from time to time.
Work with design team and cross-functional team members (such as producers or developers) to fully understand project's creative concept, scope, and requirements in order to deliver visual assets using applications within Adobe Creative Suite (such as Photoshop). Use assets such as key art, photography, show logos, network logos, and typography as design elements in order to create images/promos that clearly communicate brand messages.
Provide design solutions for A/B testing of our SVOD products, as well as create marketing assets and banner ads for digital promotions in order to leverage owned, earned, and paid outlets. Examples include media buys on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms.
• Work with digital marketing team members to fully understand SVOD products, promotional goals, communication goals, priorities, and ad placement. Use assets such as key art, photography, show logos, network logos, and typography as design elements in order to create marketing materials that clearly communicate promotional messages.
Oversee all ad sales projects such as sweepstakes and other sponsored/co-branded content. Ensure that all ad sales requirements are fulfilled within design solutions. Quickly and effectively generate comps by transforming rough concepts into page layouts to be used in client presentations.
• Work closely with the Digital Ad Sales team to conceptualize and design comps and ad campaigns for current and potential sponsors. Make design recommendations based on the assets provided by the sponsor (usually photography, product shots, logos, etc) and find clever ways to integrate the assets into comps with little supervision.
Manage the design request backlog in order to take on and/or assign and deliver design projects.
• Use Trello, our project management organization tool, to view all design requests within the backlog. Factor in all the work that needs to get done – understanding your capacity, so that projects can be assigned to additional resources if necessary.
Qualification Requirements Have a strong design point of view and understanding of fundamental design principles, typography, layout, grid systems, hierarchy, color, and composition.
Understand principles of website, mobile and digital design in general.
Understanding of web design issues, including browser and cross-platform compatibility.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop a must).
Must be familiar with file formats and optimizing graphics for the Web.
Skilled at masking and image manipulations.
Excellent team player with a positive attitude?.
1-3 years of web/digital design experience
Ability to take creative direction and work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a fast paced team environment.
Strong communication stills: verbal, written, and interpersonal.
Self-motivated with enthusiasm to constantly learn and grow with latest design trends and technologies.
Desired:
Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and content management systems with strong desire to learn is desirable.
Mobile/App and entertainment industry experience a plus.
Educational Requirements BA in Graphic design, fine arts or design related field. Project assignment associates are hired and employed through a third party vendor with a duration/tenure of no longer than twelve (12) months.
