Full Time Job
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for a combination of system administration and platform engineering with direct responsibility for the builds and ongoing support of multiple clients' environments. The Cloud Engineer will help drive the design of solutions implemented for internal stakeholders and work with other Engineers in the maintenance of our cloud-based system architecture.
The Cloud Engineer will leverage broad technical knowledge of public Cloud offerings of key providers, including Amazon Web Services and potentially Azure and Google to engineer custom solutions that meet the business and security needs of the enterprise. The Cloud Engineer will collaborate with other expert engineers, Media business partners and our Development team. The Cloud Engineer will work to continually find new areas that can be improved by bringing a DevOps mindset to all of the areas we manage – AWS, private clouds, backup systems and monitoring solutions to meet operational goals for high availability, performance, stability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency that expands the globe.
The Cloud Engineer identifies, establish, and manages AWS Test Drives, Proof of Concepts (POC), and production engagements on the public Cloud. The Cloud Engineer participates in the design and development Cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures that will be aligned with the organization and business objectives based on business, information, application, and system requirements.
Cloud Platform Engineering
• Provide high-level and detailed consultative solutions and technical support for cloud-related initiatives
• Understand business requirements and be able to translate them into technical requirements
• Build and deploy SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS environments for development and production services
• Integrate, install, configure, test, and support applications for delivery of cloud-related compute resources and services
• Develop systems management solutions using automation and self-repair rather than relying on alarming and human intervention
• Troubleshoot operational and service delivery issues in a global enterprise environment
• Create and leverage native cloud tools to operate and sustain SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS services
• Design, implement and maintain all AWS infrastructure and operational services
• Manage and monitor AWS infrastructure and related AMI's (Linux, and Windows)
• Design and implement scalability plan for all services including using shared file systems on the cloud
• Use knowledge of applications, programming and scripting to create operational tools, provide automation for deployments, provisioning and E2E (end to end) infra-as-code lifecycles
• Participate in service management processes including but not limited to: incident management, major problem reviews, change management, and continual improvement
Collaboration and Partnership
• Report on gaps, issues, failures or concerns of established Cloud applications and/or infrastructure frameworks to remediate and provide early solutions to problems
• Maintain Cloud environments by monitoring and ensuring compliance to standards, policies, and procedures.
• Work with technical teams and senior architects to finalize specifications related to integration between numerous systems; including but not limited to public, private, and hybrid cloud designs
• Collaborate with enterprise architects and information architects to ensure cloud services align to roadmaps and understand the effect on the organization's information and enterprise architecture
• Liaise with external providers to resolve any issues in the functionality and interoperability of cloud services and applications with existing IT systems
• Provide subject matter expertise in deployment and operations for the developer and IT community
Operational Support
• Research, experiment with, and inform on emerging technologies and tooling to improve the developer, operational and user experience.
• Participate in on-call duty alongside other team members.
• Create test cases, unit tests and automation scripts.
• Playing an important role in improving the team's technical depth and efficiency
• Ensure successful completion of projects on time and operational stability
• Adhere to vendor and industry best practices whenever possible to ensure operational integrity
Qualification Requirements Extensive experience with AWS (AWS Cloud Formation, AWS ECS and EC2, S3 etc..)
Proficient with configuration & release management tools like Ansible, Chef or Puppet
Experience with Native AWS Cloud monitoring and management tools (ie. CloudWatch, AWS Config, Lambda, Cloud Trail), Nagios or similar monitoring tools
Experience with managing CI/CD builds for Java based web applications
Experience with GitHub / Bitbucket
Experience with AWS, Elastic Beanstalk, ELB, S3, EB Extensions
Strong background in Windows, Linux (RHEL, CentOS, etc.)
Expert level proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python, Perl, PHP or Bash
Knowledge of containerization
AWS Certified preferred
Excellent documentation and communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate complex IaaS/ PaaS concepts to people new to Cloud Development
Detailed understanding of IaaS and virtualization – service orientated architecture designed around the delivery of Infrastructure components as a service
Experience with low-level networking constructs such routing protocols or network overlay implementations
Knowledge of Cloud providers such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform services etc.
Experience with the implementation / integration of authentication schemes, single-sign-on systems from an application perspective
5 years of engineering, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed applications (i.e. having an architectural sense for ensuring availability, reliability, etc.)
2 years of experience in ''migrating'' on premise workloads to the cloud.
Strong technical competence and aptitude.
Ability to be on call or assure critical incident response 24x7x365.
Desired:
Exceptional planning and organizational skills.
Experience with Docker containers and at least one cluster management software – Mesos, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry etc. a plus
Experience with Azure Cloud Platform a plus
Experience with Docker and Docker Hub, Rancher, or Vagrant a plus
Experience with Java based tools like Maven, Spring a plus
Experience with Jenkins and/or TeamCity a plus
Red Hat Certified (RHCE) a plus
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations and security particularly based on NIST RMF (SP800-53 security controls) and FedRAMP requirements a plus
Previous hands-on experience with complex IT Systems solutions and business applications.
Working knowledge with AGILE development, SCRUM and Continuous Integration Pipelines
Ability to develop and maintain highly effective relationships, internally and externally.
Positive ''can do'' attitude with focus on the success of the team over individual accomplishments.
