Associate Producer - Broadband, Digital Media Job Description – HISTORY / FYI
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Producer (AP) Broadband, under the direction of the HISTORY Broadband Manager, will be responsible for the day-to-day production and maintenance of HISTORY / FYI broadband products. The AP can expect to work directly with the broadband manager, editorial producers, designers, editorial director as well as other departments and outside vendors. This position is a great learning experience, as you will be exposed to all aspects of digital video for HISTORY / FYI, including publishing, metadata creation, asset creation, editorial creation, content curation, as well as assisting site production in executing digital initiatives in a content-heavy media provider.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Assist the Broadband Manager to coordinate and acquire monthly video updates to HISTORY and FYI.
• Oversee the encoding process of all video appearing on Vault and other the digital products.
• Closely associate with editorial producers to assist in the production, development and maintenance of HISTORY / FYIw, mobile products, and other OTT products
• Assist in editorial production including content curation, writing and editing of copy for titles and descriptions.
• Create / edit still and promotional images as needed
• Testing for quality assurance of all new or amended content for accuracy and functionality to ensure a satisfactory user experience
• Provide frequent updates/status reports of tasks or issues on popular show sites to invested parties
• Work with the analytics group to monitor success of digital properties, as well as assist them when necessary.
• Operate within multiple CMS applications to publish the video including Wordpress, ThePlatform and other custom applications
• Assist Broadband Manager in communicating and collaborating with various departments (including Analytics, Ad Operations, Ad Sales, On-Air Programming, Marketing, IT) for show assets, show information, or other business needs
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• College Degree or equivalent
• Minimum 2-3 years of prior experience in web and/or editorial production with a minimum of 3 years overall work experience
• Working knowledge of video production, post-production with AVID, Final Cut Pro and video encoding/transcoding
• Must be able to work across PC, Mac and mobile operating platforms, including Microsoft Office, FTP programs, various web browsers
• Adobe Creative Suite 5 or above experience required
• Proven project management and multi-tasking skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with a strong ability to work in small and large groups
• Must have a positive attitude, be adaptable, and competent in a high-stress and high-pressure environment
• Must be detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a constantly evolving workflow
• Must have a self-managed, proactive work style
PREFERRED
• An interest in television and history
• Experience working within multiple CMS applications to execute web and mobile production tasks – copy updates, copy-editing, image manipulation
• General knowledge of Mobile/OTT apps and processes
• General knowledge of HTML
• Knowledge and experience in web-publishing platforms and video-publishing platforms
• Current knowledge on the digital competitive landscape as well as interest in the latest web trends
• Familiarity with SEO
• Knowledge of AP style guide
• Ability to write compelling promotional copy
