Full Time Job
The Executive Director of Production Accounting primarily budgets upcoming projects, tracks production costs and supervises the on-site accounting teams. This position oversees mainly single-camera one-hour dramatic series for network and cable distribution as well as other projects including MOW's and ½ hour scripted comedies. The Executive Director will supervise the Accounting staffs in the field to make sure the shows are following policies and procedures. In addition to preparing budgets and reviewing cost reports for timely and accurate cost reporting, the candidate will apply for and track state and federal rebates and credits on myriad projects and prepare other reports and analyses on an ad-hoc basis. The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a key or 1st assistant production accountant. Some travel may be required to audit productions in the field.
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field (production) mandatory plus 5 years of experience in television required.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills required.
Must be proficient in budgeting multi-camera and single camera shows.
Extensive knowledge of union contracts including Canada and other foreign locations.
Able to read scripts, break them down and prepare budgets using Movie Magic Budgeting
Review and prepare tax incentive credits and track them through production to receipt.
Knowledge of day-to-day operations on a production
Review hot cost, cost reports and production reports for accuracy.
Must possess excellent communication and supervisory skills.
Deal with employee performance issues.
Must be able to attend meetings and communicate with producers and senior management.
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize the work-load while making sure deadlines are met.
Train and cooperate with the rest of the in-house and on-site accounting team to enhance future growth potential.
Must be proficient on PSL/Vista accounting system, Excel, MS Word and Outlook.
Provide backup and billing for breakage items to Accounts Receivable and track billback items for shows.
Complete special projects for corporate, legal affairs, business affairs, labor relations and human resources for research and negotiations.
Collaborate with the in-house production teams to determine and implement production strategies and logistics.
